Did Shazam remove spotify support?

In my new tags, I am no longer getting the option to play the song in spotify! the only options are Rdio and "Deezer". Does anyone else have this problem? I'm located in germany, maybe this is country specific?

@shazam support - is there an explanation for this? Since I am a paying user of spotify, there's no way any other action would be as useful to me as the play in spotify button.

Looking forward to replies!

Johannes

    Hi Johannes

In Germany, Mexico, UK and Brazil we're currently offering Deezer playback instead of Spotify within the free app. We're currently trialling different streaming partners to see which are used by more of our users. Spotify integration (which we're currently working on to improve) may be returned at a later date.

It is still available within the Encore application in all areas.

Does anyone in these countries use these services? Everyone in the UK that I know uses Spotify. I to am a paying Spotify user and will be switching to Soundhound until you restore the Spotify option.

I get you are trialling different streaming partners ... but for us paid users of your service who are using a spotify (Paid / Premium) accounts .. this is very annoying to say the least..... Could you please leave spotify and then make others available as separate links for those who are interested !!!!

Am now a very unhappy user of this service at the moment !!!!

    Daniel,

Thank you for confirming that this was indeed done on purpose by Shazam.

I would wish you'd be more forward about the reasons behind the switch, though.

Here's how you would find out which one of several streaming services is used by more of your users: You offer choice, and measure the clickthrough. Or you ask them. But you know that, of course.

What you are doing instead is not offering the by far most popular service (at least int the affected countries) and pushing another, less known service instead.

So - this is obviously a commercial decision (simply put: they are paying you / they are paying you more), and not to offer the "best" service in your users interest.

To anyone who stumbles upon this answer in search of a solution: Soundhound still offers the "Play in Spotify" action, and it immediately displays the song text, as well.

For Spotify users, I strongly suggest a switch unless Shazam changes course very quickly.

Thanks for hinting me to Soundhound. I use them now!

Shazam, has this been your intention?

Since Spotify has been removed I hardly use shazam any more. I don't want to be rude but all of my friends also use Spotify and all of us (and I mean really ALL) are kind of pissed. Especially the ones who paid for shazam to get unlimited tags and an ad free app. So shazam please reintegrate Spotify.

You said it's still available in the Encore application, but what about Product [RED]? I got that version, but no Spotify for me, even though it was written in the description it was supported. I'm from Italy

I have encore and don't have a link for spotify.  This is a big inconvenience and a large reason why i use shazam.

No, Spotify integration isn't still available in Shazam Encore (Android).

As someone who has *paid* for this app, and uses it exclusively with Spotify, I want either my Spotify integration back, or I want a refund. You've rendered this application useless in an attempt to push users into using Deezer - not going to happen, and now you've got unhappy customers.

    Way to go!

The spotify option is also not available for my shazam encore. For if the description of the play is in the store support spotify. If it does not exist, cease to use the shazam and ask for my money back. I'm in Brazil.

Note: Sorry about the translation by google translator.

I pay for Spotify Premium, and paid for Shazam Encore, and the functionality to play tracks in Spotify has been perfect since I paid for both services. The removal of this feature is very annoying indeed, and where the official reply from Shazam states that this is still available in the Encore application - it isn't. I've installed SoundCloud and am using that instead. Whether Shazam decide to put this feature back in or not entirely depends on my future usage of the app.

Just signed up to say after 3+ years (possibly 5) using Shazam, I have uninstalled and replaced by Soundhound. Great move removing Spotify guys. Not sure even putting it back would make a difference to me, although it might stop a few more defections I guess - if you are quick!

This is really annoying, I paid for encore solely for spotify use, and now it's been taken off! If you go to download the app from iTunes it still shows it in the picture! Can I have my £4.99 back please shazam?

The decision to remove support r Spotify without consulting your market is a great way of alienating your consumer bade Shazam. I love this app but without Spotify support it is nigh on useless.

I'll be switching to Soundhound and recommending it to as many people as I can regardless of whether they use it to link to a music streaming service.

Removing Spotify support is madness! 5m Deezer paid subscribers against 10m Spotify users, furthermore Deezer is very rarely used in the UK. :-(. Please fix this Shazam. All you need is a setting option to choose users' desired streaming music service links!!!

Thank you all for highlighting that the Spotify integration was not working on Shazam Encore and Shazam Red apps. This should now be returned to the app. It was removed unnecessarily due to a bug which has since been solved. The integration link should be visible on all tags once you start shazam'ing again.

If you're still not seeing Spotify in your Shazam Encore or Shazam RED app but you had it before the error, please let us know. The Spotify integration in the premium apps should be back in all areas where it is normally available.

    Hello Anya.

...sorry I wasn't listening because I was busy using Soundhound and Spotify after you drove me away.

So, you were saying? After removing Spotify to "test other steaming services" and "to see which ones are popular among our users" - that's what your colleague stated - you now apologize that this also happened in the paid version. Which one is it? A test, or a move to make people switch to paid versions?

You're alienating your users not only by taking away functionality from non paying users, but also by messing it up for the paid users at the same time (might have totally killed the upswell effect. and most of all by not being upfront about it (also killing the upswell effect).

I for one might have listened to a pitch that says "we'll always keep spotify in encore, but the free app needs to make money with paid integrations". Instead I felt you're not being honest, so why pay you money after such a move?

Therefore: Soundhound it is. Let's hope they do better than you!

Users of Spotify - please comment if you agree.

@Johannes, I see what you mean. I apologise for any confusion with my explanation. There's not really an attempt to lead people to the paid versions. As stated previously, we are trying different services on our free app. However, there was a bug with the paid version and Spotify should not have been removed. While we try to provide as best a quality of service as possible, bugs may happen both on our end, on Spotify's, or any other related providers. Getting feedback on this has been really really good. Thank you for helping us clarify this issue.
