Shazam Widget, Rich Push Notifications and Improved Watch App

Shazam Widget, Rich Push Notifications and Improved Watch App

Overview: With the new iOS 10 functionality, we’re excited to introduce some very useful features, including the Shazam widget and rich push notifications. We’ve also made our Apple Watch app much faster and added functionality to make Shazaming more seamless than ever.

Widget - You can now start Shazaming directly from your lock screen by using the Shazam widget - which will help name that song even more quickly! If your phone is locked, you will need to enter your passcode or use touch I.D to complete the process of Shazaming. To add Shazam to your widget list, swipe right on your iPhone’s lock screen. From there, scroll to the bottom, tap ‘Edit’ and then the ‘+’ next to Shazam. You’re now ready to go!

If your phone is unlocked and you’d like to add the Shazam widget, just swipe down from the top edge and follow the steps above - or swipe right from your home screen.

Rich Push Notifications - Shazam notifications have been enhanced in iOS 10 - and you can do a lot more with them: Easily preview, buy, share and even add tracks you Shazamed to playlists. Rich push notifications can also be used with Auto Shazam.

Watch App - Start Shazaming from your Apple Watch and drop your wrist. That’s it. We’ll send you a notification as soon as we find a match. To save even more time when launching Shazam on your Watch, add complications, by using force-touch on your screen to customize your Watch face with Shazam complications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if the Watch app can’t find a song and I already dropped my wrist?

You will receive a notification informing you that the song was not found, and you will have the option to immediately try again.

How do I turn notifications on/off?

When you first download the app, you will be able to turn notifications on or off. If you later change your mind, go to your ‘My Shazam’ page in the app, tap on the settings symbol in the top right corner, and find the ‘Receive notifications’ option.

How do I add a widget if I don’t have iOS 10?

Widgets are also available on iOS 9 and iOS 8; you can add, delete or customize them the same way you do in iOS 10.

What iOS device connects to Apple Watch?

iPhone 5 or above (5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6+, 7, 7+) running iOS 9.3 or above. It won’t sync to iPad. Sad tear.

What version of WatchOS do I need?

Shazam supports WatchOS 2.2 and above.
